Many expedient are used to produce safe capacitors and recover cost production; one of this is the segmented or mosaic patterns on the metallized film.

FILMET has in its production line this particular kind of metallization, developed accordingly to customer aim and purpose.

How it works:
In case of capacitor discharge, fuse-patterns on the metallization helps the capacitor to prevent big discharge, because the fuse totally insulate the damaged metallized film.
Thanks to the fuse, the energy used by the capacitor to "autorigenerate" is very little and the film doesn’t go under stress and the life of the capacitor became longer.
After insulating the short-circuit area, the capacitance of the capacitor is reduced in function of the dimension of the damaged area.
